Area of natural beauty

The Melickerheide (together with the Luzenkamp) forms the connection between Roermond and National Park de Meinweg. It is a dry shifting sand area with shifting dunes. Most of the area is forested. In the forest there are some pools and a low area. There are also open areas with heathery vegetation. This area is important for connecting animals such as the badger and wild boar.

Recreation and accessibility

A bicycle path has been constructed, making it also a beautiful, green connection for residents and recreationists on their way to the Meinweg. This path provides not only a practical route, but also an opportunity to enjoy nature and the diversity of flora and fauna that the area has to offer. These facilities allow both cyclists and hikers to take full advantage of the Melickerheide.
