The Oostrumse Beek
The Oostrum - Geijsteren Castle Walking Route starts in the church village of Oostrum and leads through meadows along the meandering Oostrumse Beek. After a wooded interlude, the hiker reaches Rosmolen, where the stream has carved a deep valley to the Meuse. At the mouth of the stream are the remains of Geijsteren castle. Further on, the route leads to Boshuizerbergen nature reserve, known for its sand dunes and largest juniper thicket in Limburg.
Sights
Along the route are historical sights such as the pilgrimage church of Our Lady of Oostrum, Trans Cedron cemetery, Landgoed Geijsteren with an old water mill and historical chapel, and the water mill Rosmolen. The route continues past the remains of Geijsteren Castle and passes the 16th-century Gothic St Willibrordus Chapel. After about 7 km, you will find Food and Drink Café 't Trefpunt, where you can go for a snack and a drink.
