In the form of a playful campaign under the code name DHZKNST, villagers were encouraged to submit ideas for a work of art to be created by themselves. The result of this DIYKNST campaign was the mosaic design, which was laid down by no fewer than 400 villagers themselves on the square in front of the parish church.
The five mosaics reflect central themes such as a typical Beringen building, a symbol for life, music, 5xBeringe, relaxation/meeting and leisure. The blue line that winds through all the mosaics symbolises life in Beringe and the canal.
