In the 16th and 17th centuries, the Scheres family owned the Scheres estate. Afterwards, J.B. van der Keelen lived there who, after his death, granted it to his daughter Catharina. She sold it to Baron d'Olne. It is presumed that at that time the house was demolished and the present castle was built. In 1962, the castle was sold to the Japanese-American artist Shinkichi Tajiri. In total, 6 families have lived there. Currently, it is used as a private residence.
